In the past week, it was said that the market was spook by the Fed interest rate hike. This week, when the Fed did raise the interest rates by 0.25%, the market welcome the move. When Warren Buffett said, ignore the market noise, this is what he meant.

SMRT Corp and SBS Transit shares price increases after Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan hints during a forum that there will be a restructuring coming for the rail industry. Share price that goes the opposite direction was SembMarine which was still curse by the dampen oil prices saw it price going down to 1.88.

No update for the past 2 weeks as I am just back with my family from our Europe tour of Italy, Switzerland and Paris. In Paris, there are now more police and soldiers on patrol and life is normal. There isn't a need to cancel your Paris tour if you intend to visit there during the December school holidays.

Seems like the STI had fallen during the past 2 weeks and now was lower than before I went for my holiday. Good buying opportunity for those who had set aside money for investment.

All the bad news put pressures on the STI again. The oil price plunge, likely US rate hike next month and disappointing 3rd quarter earning from some blue chips.

This week sentiment was somehow again affected by the upcoming US jobs data released which will also impact the US interest rate rise. There always seems to be something to worried about in the stock market.

Jumbo Group IPO offering of 88.233 million shares at 25 cents each was eight times over subscribed. I likes to eat its chili crabs as a customer but did not apply for its shares.

This week received dividend from SGX and Cordlife.

Positive news of ECB stimulus seems to push the STI higher. We can also see that both the STI ETF had went back quite close to their pre-crisis level. Certain stock like DBS Group had also risen back to 18 SGD. Will we see the STI going back to the 2700 level, well that is the hard part where no one can answer.

Didn't do much this week except paying 2 SGD for applying the Perennial Real Estate Holdings 3 years bond which had a coupon rate to 4.65%. For 2015, I think will invest some money in bond for diversification.

This week, STI managed to cross over above the 3,000 level. Likewise, both the STI ETF (ES3) and Nikko AM STI ETF (G3B) also finished above the 3.00 level.

Warren Buffett always mentioned that we should invest in the business and not look at the stock price everyday. I always believe he is right. Look what happened in the last 2 weeks (Oct 2 STI 2,793.15vs Oct 16 STI 3,030.61 gain of +237.46). The world economy is still in a mess and what was really happening was the financial news making the stock prices to go down and up again.

Blue chip rally lifts STI by 1.6%. TPP trade deal and hopes of more monetary easing keep bourses across Asia buoyant.

This week, many small investors were caught by the surprise turn of the market from negative to positive. No wonder Warren Buffett says that successful investing requires skill and strength of character.
