Never try to predict as they says.  The US sub-prime woes were out to scare the bulls investors again.

One month after the August 17 US housing loans woes, the STI seems to have recover most of its losses.  Cheers.

This time the global stocks tumble was caused the US housing market turmoil.  Property and banking stocks bear the brunt of heavy selldown by investors.  As stated on July 6 2007, when smart investor like Mr Oei Hong Leong start to sell most of his stocks, it is best to keep away from the stock market till it calm down.

On October 19, 1987, also known as "Black Monday," the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 508 points, losing 22.6% of its total value causing the start of the bear market around the world and in Singapore.

On October 27, 1997, the global stock market crash was caused by an economic crisis in Asia. Again, S'pore Stock Investor were not spared from the world wide losses.

The First Crack already happened which is cause by the US housing loans woes.
The Second Crack that everyone are watching and holding their breath is the ONGOING equity bubbles that are growing in the China Stock Exchange.  The current equity boom in China is cause by the continue booming China economy.  Currently, the Chinese government are trying to cool it by raising interest rate and if this bubbles burst, it surely going to cause a BIG BANG around the world.

As the STI hit a new high, Contrarians Investor like Oei Hong Leong done it again by disposing of his sesdaq-listed China Healthcare holding of 29.98 per cent stake and reaping an estimate profits of 14.6 million SGD.  He invested the stock around year 2005.  Estimate holding period around 3 years.  Smart investor isn't he.

Be careful - July 6 2007
2007 is really a bullish market as the STI keep hitting NEW highs almost every few months.  Recently, it was published that data from the Singapore Exchange shows 25,950 Central Depository accounts were opened in the first six months of this year, surpassing the number opened for all of 2006.  It shows that many new men and women are attracted to the rising market.

Doing the opposite are tycoon like Oei Hong Leong who are usually much more well-informed than the average Joe and Jane.  In fact, in the bullish market of 2007, what he does most of the time is selling.  It was announced recently that he has reaped an estimated gain of at least S$40m after selling his entire stake of 13.17% on July 2007. A stake in Super Coffeemix Manufacturing, a company which he stayed invested in since 2003.  His estimate holding time : 4 to 5 years.

Past histories have shown that smart investor like him is always right.

When the bull will lost the fight to the bear, only time will tell.
