Many once good dividends companies like Singpost,
SPH, M1 and StarHub etc. are reducing their dividends payout. This
year, My Family Portfolio (since 2008) will be buying more Small and Medium
size fundamentally good companies, Business Trusts and REITs that pay better
dividends. My Family investment strategy is 10% trading and 90% long-term
holding for dividends.
2018 Trend To Note
Keppel Corporation share seems not affected by
the recent fine of US$422.2 million. Its share price still
following the crude oil price which is UP.
Banks share price continue to move UP as they are still following the interest rate trend. Their earnings will keep rising as interest rate keep rising.
Sell Keppel Corporation or any O & M stocks
if crude price start to fall.
Sell Banks if interest rate start to fall.

The VIX index fell on Wednesday, after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates at its March meeting and indicated it would stick with just two additional hikes this year. Wall Street's 'fear index' falls after Fed adopts a less aggressive rate-hike path, however the DJII still fall another 424.69
Like wise, STI also fall and ended the week in red -69.98
2018 seems to be a year of volatility, so I will also do some short-term trading.

February is a month of high volatility as we saw the STI sink to a low of 3,041.94 on February 03 2017 which is the 1st week of the month. As we are near month end, the STI is now less that a 100 points against the high of 3,609.24 achieve on January 24 2018.
Feb market mini crash was a good experience for those who have never been through a bear market and you can see your wealth sinking so fast like it is the end of world when the whole market news is about fear and pain.

Feb just started and profit takers bring the market rally to an end.
DJI drop 666 on Friday might create a sell off on this coming Monday 05 Feb 2018 for the STI. Personally, I feel that this is an overdue correction that was already anticipated by the market. From the past event, any anticipated sell-off is unlikely to kill the bull. If you are a value hunter, then it might be a good opportunity to buy on dip, if unsure, better stay on the sideline and wait for a clearer picture. Always remember, the stock market is always there.
