As an employee, after working on your job for a few years slogging for your company, the same question will pop out of every employee mind: Are you earning what you are worth in your job?

The situation become worse for loyal employees whose yearly increment are slow.  You start to wonder why didn't you job hop like your friends who are now better paid.  The thought start to make you sloppy in your work place and you tried to push away additional work load away or to your colleagues. 

Well, if you sound like the above, congratulation, you have enter into a new hierarchy of needs.  As an old dog in the company, you have accumulate enough experience in your present job which you feel that the company have under paid you. 

Who should you blame for under paying you in your job?

The person is YOU, because you are complaining a decision made by yourself.  The present job was accepted by you together with the salary you received. The behaviour and how you conduct yourself currently in the company is the outcome of your own decision in the past.

When you start having though that you should be making more money, then it is time for a change.  Every employee should understand, a job is a job and you are not entitled anything extra whether you have perform well or have perfect attendance.

In reality, whether you can received any additional increment for the year or not have to depend on your superior. Your manager have to recognized your work and make the necessary recommendation for your increment.  In short, in order to earn more money in your job, you have to depend on the person who have the power to increase your pay.

Now, the magic question, how can you change your job results and earn MORE?

- Improve your value

First, look for ways to improve your value.  Forget about that ungrateful superior.  Focus your energy by looking for ways where you can learn new thing at your work place.  Once you found that, you have master what you need, asked for transfer and keep learning and improving yourself.  No one can stop a shining star.

- Update your skills

Pay the part time course yourself even if the company refused to sponsor the course if you feel that it is beneficial to you.  The woodcutter who sharpen his axe daily can cut more trees than one who never spend time sharpening his axe.  Nobody can take away the skills you learn except you.

- Start a Home Internet Job

Having internet access is very common nowadays.  Creating a web site of your own with the current skills you have not only can improve your job knowledge, but it can also earn you a second additional income.  Spend some time exploring the ideas, it is very interesting, especially when you can make money out of it.

As you can see, the only way to change your results is to change your attitude.  Believe in yourself that you a valuable person and you should deserve a greater rewards.  Constantly sharpen your skills as the gold at the other side of the rainbow is waiting for your.
