Trying to Push Yourself Too Hard

"The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision.  You can't blow an uncertain trumpet."
*-- Theodore M. Hesburgh

"Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure."
*-- George E. Woodberry

"We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop."
*-- Mother Teresa

One of the greatest living skills you can ever build an develop in life is to be able to control your own emotions and your own states at all times. However, an even greater kind of skill than controlling your emotions is to lose control of your emotions and take action in spite of it.

This can be one of the hardest skill sets to master and you really have to make a decision and commitment to mastering this area of your life if you want to ever master it completely. Some of the world's most successful people have found out and know this since they were at a very young age and have learned to take action even though they don't feel like it and knowing when not to push yourself too hard.

People always think that these successful people don't have days where they don't feel like doing anything, they do have these days but they have just learned to deal with it and keep moving forward. What happens when you take action even though you have such a day is that your state will quickly change and you will become motivated again. In this article I am going to discuss what mistakes most people like you make when you try to push yourself too hard even though you don't feel like it.

The first mistake people like you make is that they give up because it feels like a battle they can't win. In the beginning taking action in spite of not feeling like it will be really hard and this is simply because your brain has never tried doing so before and is not programmed to do so.

The next mistake people make is that they listen too much to their own inner emotions and think too much about the short term pleasure of their brain. If you constantly had to listen to what you brain's short term pleasure was telling you to do, you would never reach any of your goals in life.

A lot of times in life your brain will actually not help you and you have to completely stop listening to it when it starts getting illogical and rationalizing. The human brain is the most powerful computer on the planet but the challenge is that you have to learn to tame and harness its power, or else it is just like a very wild and powerful horse that is going to control you. Avoid making these mistakes and you will see an improvement in your ability to take action even when you don't feel like it.

Finally, try not to push yourself too hard when a situation doesn't work out as you have planned, learn also to stop, study, learn and make correction and move forward with your life.
