Debit and Credit Memo In Purchasing

Explain the scenario where you post a credit memo in invoice transaction, and what will be the accounting impact?

Following is a Scenario:
Created PO for 10 pieces 10 rs each i.e total Po value of Rs.100
GR done for 10 pieces and so stock account affected to Rs.100
IV also done with respect to GR

Now after IV, if you find that 1 piece out of 10 is defective or less in qty then you can raise raise a credit memo for 1 piece @ Rs.10/- which will be done through MIRO by selecting Credit Memo which in turn will debit vendor account with 10 rs.

The term credit memo always refers to a credit memo from the vendor. Therefore, posting a credit memo always leads to a debit posting on the vendor account.

Subsequent Debit and credit memo

What is the difference between subsequent debit and credit memo in MIRO transaction?

In case of vendor had given us credit note with relevant to particular for which we had already completed the invoice verification and payment also paid.

In this case what document should I use i.e credit memo, subsequent credit memo or subsequent debit memo?

You need to use a credit memo.

Raise subsequent credit memo for the P.O.

That means the vendor is giving money to the company.

Subsequent debit is used if you have already invoiced.

You have already received an invoice from your vendor for all the goods received. Subsequently, freight costs are to be taken into account, however, the invoice quantity remains the same.

Subsequent credit is used if you already have done a credit memo on the PO.

You have already received a credit memo from your vendor for all the goods received. Subsequently, freight costs are to be credited to your company, however, the credit memo quantity remains the same.
