Windows Vista IP Address Conflicts During Wireless Connection

I am using Linksys Router for multiple notebook connection and noticed that my windows vista notebook always have ip address conflicts during the wireless connection.  It does not happend for the windows xp and windows 7 notebook.

Solution:

DHCP not working on a wireless connection

The issue is caused by a lack of a correct association between the computer running Windows Vista and its assigned IP address.

Follow these steps to work around the issue by editing the System Registry:

1) Click the Start button.

2) Select All Programs > Accessories.

3) Right click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.

4) Type regedit.exe and press enter.

5) Go to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

6) Right click this entry and select New Dword.

7) Rename the new entry ArpRetryCount (leave it set to 0 by default).

8) Restart the computer.

You should notice a successful connection.

See the Microsoft article entitled Registry management strategies for IT Pros for additional information on editing the System Registry in Windows Vista.
