No matter what is your reason for doing so, this home working venture is going to provide that extra income that you need and better still, replaced your current job.  No job in this world can beat a self-employed job where you are the boss.

- Market Demand

How is the market demand for this products or services that you are going to start?  Does it serve the needs and wants of millions of people or is it a small niche market with good income potential? 

As a home working business, your resources are quite limited.  Most of the time, you are going to do hundreds and one thing all by yourself.  Therefore, a finding a niche market that is profitable is the best choice for you. 

- Product Life Cycle

Is the product life cycle short or long?  A toothpaste is a consumable product and the life cycle is short.  Once you finished it, you need to spend money to replace it.  A television on the other have a longer product life cycle.  You don't replace your television within a few days or months.  The shorter the product, the more money the business make.

If you start a home based business baking and selling cakes, you are in a consumable business and money will keep flowing in.  There are people who have started small on a food business from home and grew it into a million dollar business.  Once they fell in love with your food, wow, the words can really goes around and you will be surprised by the sudden growth.

- Market Trend

Does your target market trend change often?  Starting a business that market trend keep changing often means that you are facing a higher risk when you carried the products.  Don't forget that there are also inventory holding cost as well as insurance for your inventory that you might need to pay.

People who start a small personal computer business must be prepared to lower their price when faster and newer processor are launch. 

- Logistics

Do you need to delivered the products?  Normally, if you are selling physical goods, this mean that you have to spend additional money on delivery cost such as postage or insurance (for expensive products).  Furthermore, if you are selling overseas, more cost will be involved as you faced risk such as shipment loss, damage products and higher shipping cost. 

Choosing the service sector as a home working business is a lot better as you can avoid those cost associated with physical goods.  That is why lots of home working business owners used their existing career skill or hobby to start consultancy, yoga or even wind surfing business.
