Without doubts, being the boss of your own work at home business can be very exciting and rewarding.  Everyone who start a business at home have only one thing in mind, that is to escape from the THREAT of the volatile cycle of a full time job.

The first step towards a successful business at home is the most difficult step to make.  Very often, we procrastinate the ideas of getting started with our home business as we are too comfortable living in our comfort zone.  However, deep in your heart, you know you have to break free from your own mental block as UNEMPLOYMENT can HAPPENED to anyone at any time.

Basically, these are some ideas to get started on your work at home business:

- Identify Marketable Skills

Start from your most marketable skills which you have acquired.  Working full time means you are gaining experience from your work place which can be a good starting point for a home business.

Many of these people have made good progress in their home based business tapping on their work skills which they already possess.  These group of people can be accountants providing accounting services to small companies, teachers as tutors, programmers writing programs or yoga instructor teaching yoga.

- Get it Going Part Time

Any types of businesses take time to learn and grow.  Getting it started part time means that you still received a steady income without leaving your job.  Juggling a job and a home business together can be tough at first and it would be good that your family members can help and work as a team.

- Allocate a Space for Business

Many big businesses have a humble beginning.  Take a look at Amazon, Microsoft and Dell, the owners started their businesses from your own garbage to save rental cost.  Running a home business is also a business and you should allocate a space in your home for it.  It reduces many overhead costs as compare to renting a space from somewhere else.

- Adapting your Time

Time management is very important when you are running a business.  Learn to plan what you want to achieve each day and stay focus on your home business goals.  cut down on those time wasting activities like surfing the nets while you should be searching for the information that you need.

Don't be tempted to play games on your computer as you can get addicted and precious business time are wasted.

- Decide a Cut Off Date

Before you go full time on your home business, make sure you save enough backup funds for one to two years.  In reality, any business needs a cut off date where you decide that you should go back to your full time employment once you find that the business it not progressing as you plan. There always another day to make a comeback.

Lastly, take each failures as a business experience that will bring you closer to your financial security.  Those who never failed in anything means that they are not trying anything and they can never make any progress.  Remember the famous Thomas Edision, when he was interview by a reporter, he says that he managed to find 10,000 ways how things did not work.

So, keep in mind: Your investment in a home business is the best insurance against any job loss as YOU are the BOSS who can NEVER be fired.

All the best for your success.
