Choosing Your Domains Name and Extension

When you register your Domain Names, should you used a '-' or not?

First, think about the information that you will be supplying from your web site.  Then choose a Domain Names that is related to your Site Content.  For example, if it is about Web Site Marketing, then your name should be "www.web-site-marketing.com".  Try to keep to your Domain name within two to three words as most people will find it hard to remember a very long Domain Name.  Longer Domain name could also lead to more typo errors.

Why do you want to use a '-'?

Well, according to survey, Search Enginees will treat a '-' as a space and your domain name will served as a key word based on your site content and it will give you a higher ranking.

However, most visitors forgot about the '-' when they type your url.  If your site becomes very popular, people might register your Domain Name without the '-' to take advantage of the typo errors and get those traffics that should be yours.  Therefore, registor BOTH to avoid this from happenings.

Should you used a .com or .net .org or others?

Most people will remember .com as they are so used to it.  If there is an error in the url, majority will try type .com before trying other extension such as .net etc.
