Recognize The Descending Triangle

Descending triangle share the same characteristics of their ascending brothers including one horizontal trendline at the bottom with another sloping downwards.

Always look at the existing trend when determining the direction for the descending triangle.  Here you can see 3 descending triangle in Sembcorp Marine chart.

Notice that once price are near the bottom of the apex, it tends to accelerate downwards.

Traders who trade descending triangle are normally short sellers who usually place their order below the bottom horizontal trendline as the believe in the power of breakdown.  In todays market, whether price goes up or down, traders can make money by trading in the direction for the trend.
